SARA
A fully qualified Aquatics Instructor, Sara has been teaching swimming for over 8-years. Sara’s passion for teaching blossomed shortly after the arrival of her daughter, Sophia, who is now fifteen. On one of their regular visits to the swimming pool an instructor commented on Sara’s positive approach to teaching and her natural ability to build confidence with her daughter and put her at ease in the water. Since then, Sara has focused on attaining all necessary professional teaching and safety qualifications and progressed to teach children of all ages and abilities, including children with special needs, adults, and competitive swimmers.
Sara is the swim teacher at Charterhouse School, Barbican where she teaches children of all ages and coaches the Charterhouse swim squad. Since coaching the squad, Charterhouse have gone on to win the City of London Schools Swimming Gala for three consecutive years.
Sara also teaches at The Bridge Primary School, London where she teaches children of all ages with special needs and where the focus is mainly on water confidence, safety, and enjoyment.
Sara believes that the best approach to teaching, especially when it comes to children, is to make it as much fun as possible (especially in the early years). Building confidence in the water and trust with the swimmer are two key factors when it comes to teaching. Technique and stamina will follow once these have been attained. Sara believes that positive reinforcements are an integral part of the learning process which in-turn speeds learning, confidence, and ability in the water.
Sara believes that every child should have the opportunity to learn to swim and build the crucial skills that could one-day save their life.
